berry season

June.
This is one of our favorite times of the year.
We play hard and we work hard.
Things are growing and maturing in the garden. We swim. We go to the cabin.
And, we have the farm!

Jack and Ellie have given up carrying a bucket most of the time.  They just put the berries directly into their mouths.
 Precious.
We love to go in the evenings. It's cool, quiet, and beautiful.
Jack and I got to help my mom sell grandpa's berries at the farmer's market, something I've always thought would be fun.  And, it was!

We are so, so very blessed to have grandpa's farm to enjoy and to share with our friends.  For the last month or so, we have been down to pick berries and play at least twice a week.  It's been an abundant crop this year and we've been eating blueberries by the handful.  Not ready for the season to be over soon!  Thank you Grandpa!

our garden

Our little garden is taking off.  I absolutely love the whole process. Planting. Pruning. Watering.
And now, I hover.  Every day I hover, watching to see if my little veggies have grown overnight.  Hayden built us new raised beds this year, giving us more space with more aesthetic appeal!
I love them. Thank you honey!

Our bunny fence.... seems to be working, but has not always deterred the dogs.

Our first peppers.  Aren't they a lovely, eggplant color?
My sweet little girl is a good helper.

Our beans have been yellowish and puny, but I think I have found the problem.  Bought some organic fertilizer and they are greening right up.  Needed nitrogen I think.

Won't be long...

Swiss Chard... yum!

Wrapped a slice of fresh mozzarella, a slice of tomato, and a basil leaf drizzled with olive oil in our Swiss Chard and roasted it in the oven. Heaven.  Zucchini Boats too.
We planted a lot of zucchini this year!

Love eating from our backyard!

Tee ball

Tee ball this spring was so much fun.  This was our little guy's first "real" team sport experience.  He has been very focused and serious about trying his best, but has had so much fun learning a new game and cheering on the team.  We are very proud of him.  The first picture is of him holding the "game ball."  He made three outs that game and was on cloud nine.  I love how the boys slide into home plate, every. single. time.  I don't know that there is anything cuter than 6 year old boys in a baseball uniform. Precious.
